The iconographic collage series from BRATY is a modern language and reading of the most iconic pantheon of Ukrainian saints and protectors who are part of Ukrainian culture.
Saint Nicholas is one of the most iconic saints for Ukraine. For another hundred years, his icon was in every Ukrainian house. Veneration began with Prince Volodymyr, then the Saint was revered by the Cossacks, Mazepa, was an important part of the iconography of the Cossack Baroque. St. Nicholas not only brings gifts to children, but is also the patron saint of students and pupils, is a helper in trouble (helps those who have been wronged, treated unfairly, who is in danger), patronizes farmers, travelers and sailors (travellers painted and took with him the icon of Nicholas, which was painted on dry flounder).
